Co-invest offerings invest only in a single company at a single point in time. By contrast, funds generally invest in numerous companies, based on their stated investment strategies. Funds also invest in these companies over a set period of time (often 3-4 years).

Another difference is the time horizon. Most funds have a standard ‘term’ of 10 years, plus incremental annual extensions to see the orderly winddown of the portfolio of many companies. With a co-invest, the time horizon will depend on the stage of the company. For example, if the co-invest is in a later-stage company, the time horizon may be closer to 2-4 years, much shorter than the traditional term of a fund.

Similar to funds (and as with all investments on the Allocate platform), each co-invest has been fully vetted by the Allocate Investment Team and received Investment Committee approval prior to being listed on the platform.
